This year Giant City School was the pilot program for the Muddy Kids Project. The Muddy Kids Foundation works to promote student understanding of the wildlife living in southern Illinois. This year students learned different species of animals and took a field trip to the Touch of Nature to explore and meet many of the animal species. Muddy Kids founder, Gene Morgan is pictured with teachers and students from Giant City. He is presenting a check for $500 to the school to purchase supplies for the program, and another $500 was donated to pay for the field trip to Touch of Nature.

This week has been a very busy one at Giant City! Olivia and Emma hosted a bake sale to add to the donation for Cache Creek Animal Shelter. Overall they raised over $1200 to donate to the animal shelter. It is amazing how much anyone can contribute to the world today!

Students displaying good behavior of 9 points or less got to attend the PRIDE Party! Younger students enjoyed activities such as inflatables, slip-n-slide, hula hoops, races, and much more. Older students went to the Rec Center at SIU to play basketball, racquetball, swimming, and diving. Thanks to all of those people and businesses that donated funds for these special days!
