Thriller at Giant City

Students at Giant City have been learning parts to the Thriller Dance this week! Today students put all of the steps together to create their dance masterpiece.

Grandparents Day!

Ms. Opp's fourth grade class hosted Grandparents Day today! Grandparents and special guests came to visit the classroom and enjoy tasty treats! Fourth graders asked the grandparents a special questionnaire to find out about life when they were children.

Little Free Library

Giant City School recently received a Little Free Library Grant! This week Lori Martin, Toni Tabor and Mrs. Hill traveled to Springfield, Illinos to build the small library. The Little Free Library will sit in Spring Arbor and is FREE for anyone to borrow or leave books to share!

Lunch Prep is Fun!

During Adventure Camp children had a great time helping to prepare their own meals. Children cooked a burger pouch on a campfire, toasted hot dogs in solar ovens and created ham and cheese sandwiches on hobo stoves. YUM!

Summer Kids Klub Fun!

Children enrolled in the GC Summer Kids Klub program have enjoyed many fun activities over the last few weeks. Camps have varied themes such as Ancient Egypt, Camping, and Let It Go!
Children worked to make "fruit mummies" and went fishing at a local pond.

West African Performance

Students in kindergarten through fifth grade enjoyed a storytelling and musical performance this afternoon. Morikeba Kouyate is a seventh-generation Jali (Griot) and who performed at school today.
 Morikeba performs around the country as a solo artist, enticing audiences young and old with exciting music and engaging stories. The Music of Senegal and Mandingo Royals & Warriors Folklore are traditional and contemporary songs and stories which share the history of the Mandingo people from more than 700 years ago.
